The Norwich City midfielder is believed to have dislocated his shoulder after slipping while challenging Crystal Palace’s Will Hughes in the first half of their 4-0 Carabao Cup loss. Forson received gas and air and an injection on the field before being taken to an ambulance at Selhurst Park, where his shoulder was realigned. He later appeared with his arm in a sling.
The City manager was asked for an update on the summer signing after the match. While Forson is unlikely to be available for Saturday’s match against Coventry, Thorup was optimistic that the injury wouldn’t keep him out for a long period.
“It was a shoulder injury. You can never be completely sure, but it seemed somewhat better than expected when we saw him afterwards,” Thorup said after the match at Selhurst Park.
“We need to wait for a thorough medical assessment, but I’m hopeful. It actually looks a bit better than I anticipated.
“We’ll have to see how it progresses. In the meantime, it’s another chance for someone else to step up and perform well. The positive takeaway from tonight is that some players who haven’t had much game time this season were ready to contribute.”
City missed two crucial chances that could have turned the game around and then made mistakes that led to further goals against them.
“Regarding the chances, I believe that the approach we’ve taken in recent weeks has led us to create numerous opportunities in our games.
“It’s only a matter of time before we start scoring more than one or two goals. The team has done well in that aspect.
“The issue lies more in our defense. It’s not that we’re conceding too many chances, but rather that in a few key moments, the opposition showed their quality, and we could have performed better. These are the moments I want to analyze and see how we can improve.”
